Free Media Heck Yeah
- Free resources across the internet, some of them from legit sources and some of them require
"sailing the seven seas", so use this resource to your level of comfort and take the necessary
precautions to keep yourself and your computer safe :)
- The site itself has some good resources on how to stay safe when downloading from these
types of online sources
|
The Internet Archive
- An incredibly important archive of both digital,
scanned/digitized physical media shared in this online
space
- Also home of The Wayback Machine, where you can view archived webpages from the internet’s past
- Note: They're going through several lawsuits from
book publishers and music distributers over rights, not
to mention they've also been the target of cyber attacks
recently... I say we enjoy what we can of the Internet
Archive while we can, because it's an incredible tool that
would be a shame to lose.

Itch.io

I have this alongside imageresizer.com because this one Specifically works local so you Know For
Sure your image couldn’t be compromised
|
ImageResizer.com
- Like Squoosh, very good for compressing images, but with other tools too, like:
-

- Converting File Type
- Etc...
- Their privacy blurb on the front page:
- “Your images are uploaded via a secure 256-bit encrypted SSL connection and deleted
automatically within 6 hours.”
|
Image-Map.net
- From their about: "We make it extremely easy to create free HTML
based image maps. Our tool was build from the ground up with the
modern browsers in mind, and sadly in turn doesn't support older
browsers (sorry IE8 and lower!). All operations are completely client
side in your browser using the power of HTML5, SVG and JavaScript."
-
"Disclaimer: No image from your PC are ever transferred out of your
browser. All files loaded from your PC are read using the FileReader
JavaScript API directly off your hard drive in to your browser."

Notion
-
I use Notion! It’s like making a mini wiki for your own nonsense lol
- I kind of want an alternative that is available offline, bUT I haven’t figured out a way to do
that wouldn’t be So complicated that I wouldn’t just immediately slide off of, so with notion I
stay
- I use the free version and as long as you’re not working with a team you can basically upload
any image to it under 5 mb and create a bazillion pages (until they realize I’m hogging their
server space, anyway x_x)

Dimensions.com

professional knowledge of life and design.”
- … Neat! Useful!
|
VIShopper.com
-
Okay, hear me out, art reference clearly what isn’t what this is for, bUT I think the very
specific search abilities, cut out figures, pose features, could give a lot of possibilities for
finding good drawing reference

your noodle, I trust u ;)

Visual Squirrels
-
From the about-"This site is basically where we collect interesting, weird, odds and ends on any
issue that peaks our individual and collective interests. Usually, it has a visual component but
not always (see rants and quotes :). It is about sharing what is fascinating, some art-design we
make ourselves, and also an archive of things that often slip through the gaps."
-
This was wonderful to stumble upon and a fun place to explore for articles, curiosity
fulfilment, and art reference alike
